ReStore Associate/Driver

Habitat for Humanity Capital Region is hiring two ReStore Associate/Drivers, both with flexibility to support all three store locations as needed.

Position: ReStore Associate/Driver

Reports to: ReStore Manager

Location: Works between Habitat ReStore locations in Lansing, St Johns, AND Williamston

Hours: Tues-Sat, 30-36 hours

Employment Status: Non-exempt, $15 per hour

Job description

As our ReStore Associate/Driver, you will ensure that the Lansing, St. Johns, and Williamston ReStores provide outstanding customer service, and you will provide backup driver support to ensure that donation collection takes place.

Every day, you will operate a cash register, pick up donations from around the community, safely load the merchandise in the ReStore truck, and unpack the merchandise.

In a typical day, you might…

  • Screen donations, both on the phone and in person, before accepting them
  • Process cash and credit card transactions
  • Clean and organize ReStore merchandise staging area
  • Manage calls to schedule pick-ups and coordinate collections
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with ReStore staff, volunteers, Habitat Capital Region clients, and ReStore customers
  • Engage in well-considered discussions
  • Supervise volunteers

Habitat for Humanity Capital Region is a dynamic, progressive nonprofit organization that works to provide affordable homeownership opportunities, home repairs, and accessibility ramps to low- to moderate-income individuals and families in Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham County.

The Habitat for Humanity Capital Region ReStore, located in Lansing, St Johns, and Williamston, are proudly owned and operated by Habitat Capital Region to help fund the work of the nonprofit organization. Habitat ReStore accepts donations of new and gently used items from individuals and businesses, and then sells those items to the public.

Qualifications

  • To thrive in this job, you must display a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and understand that the ReStore is a part of the larger goal to build a world where everyone has a safe, decent, and affordable place to live.
  • Must have a chauffeur license (or ability to acquire prior to starting) and maintain a good driving record
  • Education: High school or equivalent (preferred)
  • To be hired, you must clear a criminal background and sex offender registry check

For your safety, please keep in mind that the ReStore Associate:

  • Will frequently lift 75 pounds
  • Spends majority of the day in a vehicle or standing and moving about Habitat ReStore
  • Performs work that may require climbing ladders, considerable standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching in awkward and tiring positions
