It is with heavy heart that we announce that longtime Habitat volunteer Jane Johnson passed away last month. Jane came to volunteer with Habitat Capital Region in 1998 upon her retirement. She devoted her time to build a stronger community with Habitat Capital Region.
Jane Johnson's 4,000 Hours of Service
In the 26 years she volunteered with Habitat Capital Region, Jane served people in the Greater Lansing community in many volunteer capacities.
- She has been a weekly volunteer on our Ramp Crew, who build accessibility ramps for individuals in our community with mobility issues.
- She organized her quilting guild to make quilts for new homeowners. They received the quilts when they close and move into their Habitat homes.
- Jane volunteered on Habitat for Humanity International's first Women Build in Americus, Georgia.
- She served as member of the Habitat Capital Region Board of Directors.
- She also worked with the “fix-up” program, which launched our Neighborhood Revitalization and Repair Programs.
Jane Johnson made an impact in the lives of hundreds of households served by Habitat Capital Region's Ramp Program. Now, they have safe and independent access to their homes.
