Right now, there are 9 future homeowners waiting to be matched to and purchase an affordable home with Habitat Capital Region. Between these households, there are 17 children who may never have had a bedroom to themselves, experienced the quiet that comes without sharing walls with neighbors, or felt safe playing in their neighborhood.
Homeownership is well-known for improving health, safety, security, and the opportunity for a better future.
But traditional homeownership is financially out of range for many of our neighbors in the Capital Region.
Future Habitat homeowners must meet three main criteria: need for housing, willingness to partner, and ability to pay. Once approved, they purchase a house with an affordable mortgage, and payments are capped at 30% of their income.
