On April 7th, Habitat for Humanity Capital Region is kicking off the seventh annual Power of Home fundraising campaign in partnership with Consumers Energy and Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the state of Michigan.
Starting April 7th, Consumers Energy will match your gifts by 50% until the matching funds run out! Don't delay!
Right now, there are nine families waiting to purchase a Habitat home. Our goal is to raise a total of $25,000, with help from both you and Consumers Energy!
When you donate to Habitat Capital Region, you help local people build better futures for themselves and their families.
In 2025, you changed the lives of 42 households:
- 3 households purchased their Habitat home, creating financially stable futures for their families, 2 more started construction on their future homes,
- 13 homeowners had critical repair needs met to preserve the safety of their homes for years to come, and
- 26 ramps were built for people with mobility challenges to be able to safely come and go from their homes
This year, your support will help us:Â
- Build homes in the Greater Lansing area
- Begin our 10-home Valencia development on the south side of Lansing
- Expand access to affordable housing in Ingham, Clinton, and Eaton County

The Power of Home is a statewide campaign uniting Habitat affiliates across Michigan. Thanks to the generosity of our partners: Consumers Energy, SEMCO, UPPCO, and other regional utility companies, donations to our campaign are eligible for a 50% match—helping your gift go even further. That means your donation supports local families and unlocks additional funds to expand our impact.
Power of Home campaign details
- The Consumers Energy match incentive is only available for donations made through the Power of Home campaign website.
- Consumers Energy will match $1 for every $2 donated on each individual's gift up to $10,000. This means that Consumers will not give more than $5,000 in match funding for any single donor.
- This campaign is organized and hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Michigan to benefit every local Habitat working in the state. Once the match has been met, the campaign will end and Habitat Michigan will distribute your gifts to the local Habitat affiliate that you donated to.
