Letter from the CEO
Expanding Our Service Area
During the time that I’ve been privileged to be a part of the team here at Habitat Capital Region, I’ve determined there are two absolute certainties that come with the work we do.
One certainty is that there is always more to be done. We will always have neighbors in need, for whom our programs hold life-changing potential.
The other certainty is that we will never shy away from that challenge. It is not always easy, to say the least, but we are as confident as ever that our staff, volunteers, and supporters of all kinds will continue to come together and embrace the belief that our collective strength and concerted effort make a difference. With great challenge comes great opportunity.
With that belief in mind, we’re stepping headlong into the challenge with some very exciting news. Beginning in September, our service area will grow to include Clinton County. Serving the entire tri-county area is a tremendous opportunity to grow the indelible mark we make on the Capital Region. We’ll be growing our geographic service area by over 50%, operating a third ReStore in St. Johns (fewer than 5% of Habitat affiliates nationwide operate more than two ReStores), and most importantly, extending our programs to include communities like DeWitt, St. Johns, Ovid, Fowler, and others.
With more opportunity comes a greater need for support. Your volunteerism, financial gifts, and advocacy will mean more than ever as we strive to serve more neighbors in more communities than ever before, and to do so with the same care, respect, and compassion that are hallmarks of what we do.
There is more to be done, and with your help, we’re up for the challenge.
- Brent Taylor, President & CEO
