On the heels of Women Build, Delta Dental brought their volunteer power to Valencia Blvd. for a special week of service with Habitat for Humanity Capital Region.
Delta Dental Build Week was the first Habitat Capital Region build week completely comprised of and sponsored by a single community partner. The week also marked Delta Dental’s commitment as the newest Lead Sponsor of the Valencia Blvd. development, Habitat Capital Region’s 10-home development on the south side of Lansing.
MSHDA Executive Director Amy Hovey and State Rep. Penelope Tsernoglou helped kick off the week, welcoming Delta Dental volunteers to the build site and celebrating the partnership’s investment in affordable homeownership. Hovey spoke of the need for affordable housing in Michigan, and the importance of MSHDA and Habitat Capital Region's work in closing that housing gap.
Throughout the week, Delta Dental teams made impressive progress on the first two homes, working on siding, front porch decking, and more. Volunteers gained hands-on construction experience while contributing their time and energy to building much-needed homes in the Capital Region.
